A college student out of Temple University has created a website which allows fellow students to rank their landlords. The website, called WhoseYour Landlord.com, was created by Ofo Ezeugwu.
The website is marketed specifically to college students. The students can rate the property based on factors such as landlord responsiveness, pricing, safety and condition of the property. The site currently services five colleges, including the University of Maryland and Temple University, but expects to add more soon.
This should be a wakeup
call to all those who own rental property in college towns or who actively rent to college students. With the students' ability to easily compare properties, the days of easily renting out dated units with sticky floors may be behind us. To get a feel for some of your target market's likes and dislikes, it could be helpful to thumb through some of the rankings and comments on this site. It seems like only a matter of time before this rating site, or a site like it, comes to a town near you.
